Far Cry

The lead single arrived like a statement of purpose — staccato hooks, a howling guitar break, and Rush at the peak of their late-career powers. Peart brought in lyrics at the end of a day; Lee looked at them and said "Wait a minute!" — they matched what he'd been assembling musically. The song grew organically from that convergence.

"Far Cry" reached #22 on the Mainstream Rock chart and was performed on every subsequent Rush tour, always closing with a victory salute between Lee and Peart after the last note. It became a symbol of the band's revitalization.

Raskulinecz compared it to the band's classic material, saying "I feel they've written some of the best material they've written, and they're playing at the top of their abilities."
