The Analog Kid

A companion piece to "Digital Man" later on the album, this track captures the yearning and restless imagination of youth — a boy daydreaming in a field, his mind racing with possibilities. Peart contrasts the organic, analog experience of childhood wonder with the increasingly digital world encroaching on it.

Despite the album's keyboard-heavy reputation, this is one of the tracks where Lifeson's guitar gets to shine, with some of his most melodic and passionate playing of the era. The interplay between the guitar and synth lines creates a tension that perfectly mirrors the lyrical theme.

It's become a deep-cut favorite among fans who appreciate the synth-era albums, and "Kid Gloves" on Grace Under Pressure serves as something of a thematic sequel.
