Take a Friend
A mid-tempo rocker with a groovy bass line from Geddy Lee. The song is about camaraderie and loyalty — themes that would recur throughout Rush's career in more sophisticated forms.
Alex Lifeson's guitar work features some nice melodic passages that hint at the more progressive direction the band would eventually take. The track demonstrates the chemistry between Lee and Lifeson that had been developing since their teenage years playing together in the Willowdale neighbourhood of Toronto.
While not one of the album's standout tracks, it provides a solid foundation and shows the band could work in a more relaxed groove beyond just heavy riffing.
