The album closer uses the photography term "available light" — shooting with whatever illumination exists rather than artificial sources — as a metaphor for working with what life gives you rather than demanding ideal conditions. It's a beautiful, reflective meditation on acceptance and making the best of reality.

The arrangement features piano arpeggios — a first for Rush — and Lifeson contributes rare backing vocals. These small innovations demonstrate that even within a more restrained sonic palette, the band continued to push into new territory.

"Available Light" is one of Presto's most moving tracks, closing the album on a contemplative note that suits both the album's themes and the band's transitional moment. It's a quiet statement of resilience and hope.
