Turn the Page

Not to be confused with the Bob Seger classic of the same name, Rush's "Turn the Page" is about embracing change and moving forward — the idea that when one chapter ends, you simply turn the page and begin the next. It's a fitting metaphor for a band in constant evolution.

The arrangement is among the more guitar-prominent tracks on the album, with Lifeson's playing driving the verses. The melodic quality of the chorus makes it one of the catchiest songs on Hold Your Fire.

The song's theme of accepting change and moving forward would prove prophetic — Hold Your Fire essentially closed the chapter on Rush's synth-heavy period, and the band would indeed turn the page with their next album.
